Nearly 20% of the UNH student body are Transfer Students. Most of these students are entering with 1-3 semesters of college level coursework completed and generally between the ages of 18-20. So you are in good company when you transfer to UNH. As such, we have many specific processes and support in place for our students, including, Transfer Orientation in both the fall and spring semester start, individualized academic advising, and a personal transfer admissions counselor to help navigate the process.
Explore our Transfer Advising resources as well as our opportunity to join an Intentional Transfer Living Community if that is something you choose. Interested in other housing experiences, no problem, with guaranteed housing for all students under 21, you will have options.

To earn guaranteed admission to UNH through the Direct Transfer Pathway, during your time with Verto you will need:
- 2.75+ GPA
- Minimum 12 credits
- No grade below a C-
*Please note the above are requirements for guaranteed admission. If a student is short on one of those metrics we will still do a holistic review of their application beyond the guarantee to see if they may be admissible.
Students applying through the Direct Transfer are guaranteed admission to UNH Durham College of Liberal Arts and UNH Manchester majors if they meet the Direct Transfer parameters. We welcome students to apply for other majors on our campus through the Verto Partner Application and we will be happy to review holistically on a case by case basis for these programs.

While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Partner Application for holistic review.

The 2.75 GPA requirement is based on your most recent college work if at least 4 courses are included. We will be looking for upward trends in grades and success in core curriculum areas. So, you still may be on track for admission at UNH.
Make sure to request official copies of your prior college transcripts be sent to UNH when you apply. Credits earned prior will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Yes, you are still eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee. You will need to provide documentation of successful completion of your secondary level studies in the form of a final transcript, a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), HiSET, or a certificate of completion from your local school district or state board of education. If your homeschool program does not provide a “diploma” please feel free to contact us to establish the final documentation we will require before your enrollment.
International students are encouraged to apply directly as a transfer student for holistic review. You may still be considered for the Direct Transfer Pathway if you meet our English Language Proficiency requirements as well as our Direct Pathway requirements.
English Proficiency
Demonstration of English Proficiency is required if English is not a student’s first language. The scores must be sent directly from the agency. English proficiency waivers from an institution are considered on a case-by-case basis. UNH’s CEEB code for TOEFL is: 3918
The following tests are accepted, along with minimum scores:
- TOEFL iBT: 80
- TOEFL Essentials: 8.5
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 59
- Duolingo English Test (English Proficiency Test): 120

Once you arrive at your Verto location, you can begin working with Verto staff to prepare your application to UNH. Applications are typically sent following mid-terms, so your mid-term report can demonstrate your progress towards Direct Transfer eligibility.

UNH will allow Verto students to extend an additional semester at Verto and still stay on track to enroll at UNH after the completion of this overseas experience. You should be in communication with your Verto Care Team and your UNH Admission counselor about this update if you choose to do this path.
Once UNH receives your Verto Partner Application you will receive an email communication giving you access to your UNH Application Portal. Here you will be able to track your application to know if materials are still missing and when your application becomes complete and is reviewed. Once your application has been reviewed you will receive an email communication letting you know there is an update in your Application Portal. Once you click the link to log back into your Application Portal you will be able to see your Admission Decisions Letter there. Once an application is complete it should take around 2 weeks to receive your admission decision at UNH.
